En travaillant tristement près de ma fenêtre, je me suis piquée au doigt ; et la fleur blanche que je brodais est devenue une fleur rouge. Alors j’ai songé brusquement à celui qui est parti pour combattre les révoltés ; j’ai pensé que son sang coulait aussi, et des larmes sont tombées de mes yeux. Mais j’ai cru entendre le bruit des pas de son cheval, et je me suis levée toute joyeuse ; c’était mon cœur qui, en battant trop vite, imitait le bruit des pas de son cheval. Je me suis remise à mon ouvrage près de la fenêtre, et mes larmes ont brodé de perles l’étoffe tendue sur le métier.
