Ich ging im Felde

Andavo per i campi
nei miei pensieri intento,
senza nessuno scopo,
questo era il mio sentimento.
Vidi un piccolo fiore,
stava proprio lì accanto
mai ne conobbi in vita
uno bello altrettanto.
Io lo volevo cogliere,
ma lui mi disse tosto:
posseggo le radici,
le tengo in un luogo nascosto,
bene ancorate
nel terreno profondo,
per questo il fiore nasce
così bello e rotondo.
Non posso amoreggiare
e nemmeno adulare,
tu non mi devi cogliere,
ma solo trapiantare.
Andavo per i boschi,
nei miei pensieri intento,
lieto di passare oltre;
questo era
il mio sentimento.
