Маков цвет не всходит,
И до броду за водою
Девица не ходит.

В огороде хмель зелёный
Сохнет на тычине;
Черноброва, белолица
Девица в кручине.

В огороде, возле броду,
Верба наклонилась;
Загрустилась черноброва,
Тяжко загрустилась.

Она плачет, плачет и рыдает,
Словно рыбка бьётся,
А над нею, молодою,
Молодец смеётся.

Ne s'approche pas pour aller à l'eau.

Dans le jardin près de la boue
Sèche sur la clôture la vigne ;
Les yeux noirs et le visage blanc
La fille soupire.

Dans le jardin près du gué,
Le saule se penche,
La fille aux yeux noirs est triste,
Lourde est sa tristesse.

Elle pleure, pleure et hoquette,
Comme un poisson qui se débat...
Et en regardant la jeune fille,
Un garçon se moque d'elle.
