Agafats de bracet, reposàvem allà jo i la meva estimada, els nostres cors florien i ressonaven com un camp de flors al mes de maig. A prop, un petit rierol mormolava amb una remor de cant de passeig; muts, els núvols passaven pel cel fins que es perdien de vista. Dels arbres cruixia el fullatge, mustigat i espargit, i silent, pel nostre costat, passava el temps sense fer fressa. Muts, la parella de vells esguardava la parella de joves; el doble mirall de la vida era davant nostre, lluminós i genuí: Ells ens miraven i pensaven en llur joiós passat; nosaltres els miràvem i pensàvem en el nostre temps futur i llunyà.
