Berg' und Burgen schaun herunter
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  CAT DUT ENG FRE IRI ITA
Berg' und Burgen schaun herunter
in den spiegelhellen Rhein,
und mein Schiffchen segelt munter,
rings umglänzt von Sonnenschein.

Ruhig seh' ich zu dem Spiele
goldner Wellen, kraus bewegt;
still erwachen die Gefühle,
die ich tief im Busen hegt'.

Freundlich grüssend und verheißend
lockt hinab des Stromes Pracht;
doch ich kenn' ihn, oben gleißend,
birgt sein Innres Tod und Nacht.

Oben Lust, im Busen Tücken,
Strom, du bist der Liebsten Bild!
Die kann auch so freundlich nicken,
lächelt auch so fromm und mild.

Bergen en burchten zien naar onder
Language: Dutch (Nederlands)  after the German (Deutsch)
Bergen en burchten zien naar onder
In de spiegelklare Rijn,
En mijn scheepje zeilt daar monter,
Wijd omglansd door zonneschijn.

Rustig kijk ik naar het spoelen
Van de golven, woelend wild;
Stil begin ik weer te voelen
Wat mijn hart zo bezig hield.

Vriend'lijk groetend en steeds sjansend
Lokt de stroom met diepe pracht;
Maar ik ken hem: boven glanzend
Bergt zijn binnenst' dood en nacht.

Boven lust, van binnen strikken,
Stroom, je bent echt liefjes beeld!
Die kan ook zo vriend'lijk knikken,
Glimlacht ook zo lief en mild.
