nec quisquam potior bracchia candidae
     cervici iuvenis dabat,

arsisti neque erat Lydia post Chloën,
     multi Lydia nominis,
Romana vigui clarior Ilia.

     Me nunc Thressa Chloë regit,
dulcis docta modos et citharae sciens,
     pro qua non metuam mori,
si parcent animae fata superstiti.
