Vier Canzonetten , opus 8

by (Karl) Friedrich Curschmann (1805 - 1841)

1. Trova un sol mia bella Clori  [sung text not yet checked]

Language: Italian (Italiano)
Trova un sol, mia bella Clori,
Che ti parli e non sospiri,
Che ti vegga e non t'adori:
E poi sdegnati con me.

Ma perchè fra tanti rei
Sol con me perchè t'adiri?
Ah, se amabile tu sei,
Colpa mia, crudel, non è.

Text Authorship:

  • by Pietro Antonio Domenico Bonaventura Trapassi (1698 - 1782), as Pietro Metastasio, no title, appears in Cantate, in 3. Il Trionfo della Gloria, in 5. La scusa

See other settings of this text.

Confirmed with Tutte le opere di Pietro Metastasio, Firenze, Tipografia Borghi e compagni 1832, page 718.

2. Or che il ciel  [sung text not yet checked]

Language: Italian (Italiano)
Or che 'l ciel e la terra e 'l vento tace,
E le fere e gli augelli il sonno affrena,
Notte il carro stellato in giro mena
E nel suo letto il mar senz'onda giace;

Vegghio, penso, ardo, piango; e chi mi sface
Sempre m'è inanzi per mia dolce pena:
Guerra è il mio stato, d'ira et di duol piena;
E sol di lei pensando ho qualche pace.

Così sol d'una chiara fonte viva
Move 'l dolce e l'amaro ond'io mi pasco;
Una man sola mi risana e punge.

E perchè 'l mio martìr non giunga a riva,
Mille volte il dì moro e mille nasco;
Tanto da la salute mia son lunge!

Text Authorship:

  • by Francesco Petrarca (1304 - 1374), no title, appears in Canzoniere (Rerum vulgarium fragmenta) , in 1. Rime In vita di Madonna Laura, no. 164

3. Per pietà bell' idol   [sung text not yet checked]

Language: Italian (Italiano)
Per pietà, bell'idol mio,
non mi dir ch'io sono ingrato;
infelice e sventurato
abbastanza il Ciel mi fa.

Se fedele a te son io,
se mi struggo ai tuoi bei lumi,
sallo amor, lo sanno i Numi
il mio core, il tuo lo sa.
