Fünf Lieder für 1 Singstimme mit Pianoforte , opus 13

by Hermann Riedel (1847 - 1913)

1. Was mich zu dir so mächtig zog  [sung text not yet checked]

Language: German (Deutsch)
Was mich zu dir so [heftig]1 zog
War nicht der Augen Allgewalt,
Der Schimmer nicht des goldnen Haar's
Und nicht die schlanke Huldgestalt.

Was mich zu dir so mächtig zog,
War deiner Stimme trüber Klang,
Der mir wie Nachtigallensang
Ins Herz, ins lebensmüde, drang.

Die Blässe deiner Wangen war's
Und [deine]2 Träne, die verriet,
Dass deine Seele tiefgeheim
Ein namenloses Weh durchzieht.

3. Auf dem See  [sung text not yet checked]

Language: German (Deutsch)
Und frische Nahrung, neues Blut
Saug' ich aus freier Welt;
Wie ist Natur so hold und gut,
Die mich am Busen hält!
Die Welle wieget unsern Kahn
Im Rudertakt hinauf,
Und Berge, wolkig himmelan,
Begegnen unserm Lauf.

Aug', mein Aug', was sinkst du nieder?
Goldne Träume, [kommt]1 ihr wieder?
Weg, du Traum! so Gold du bist;
Hier auch Lieb' und Leben ist.

Auf der Welle blinken
Tausend schwebende Sterne,
Weiche Nebel trinken
Rings die thürmende Ferne;
Morgenwind umflügelt
Die beschattete Bucht,
Und im See bespiegelt
Sich die reifende Frucht.

5. Am fernen Horizonte  [sung text not yet checked]

Language: German (Deutsch)
Am fernen Horizonte
Erscheint, wie ein Nebelbild,
Die Stadt mit ihren Thürmen,
In Abenddämmrung gehüllt.

Ein feuchter Windzug kräuselt
Die graue Wasserbahn;
Mit traurigem Tacte rudert
Der Schiffer in meinem Kahn.

Die Sonne hebt sich noch einmal
Leuchtend vom Boden empor,
Und zeigt mir jene Stelle,
Wo ich das Liebste verlor.
