Fünf Lieder

Song Cycle by Werner Bühler (1904 - 1968)

1. Frühling
 (Sung text)

Language: German (Deutsch)
In dämmrigen Grüften
Träumte ich lang
Von deinen Bäumen und blauen Lüften,
Von deinem Duft und Vogelsang.

Nun liegst du erschlossen
In Gleiß und Zier,
Von Licht übergossen
Wie ein Wunder vor mir.

Du kennst mich wieder,
Du lockest mich zart,
Es zittert durch all meine Glieder
Deine selige Gegenwart.

Text Authorship:

  • by Hermann Hesse (1877 - 1962), "Frühling", subtitle: "(1899)", written 1899

2. Die frühe Stunde
 (Sung text)

Language: German (Deutsch)
Silbern überflogen
Ruhet das Feld und schweigt,
Ein Jäger hebt seinen Bogen,
Der Wald rauscht und eine Lerche steigt.

Der Wald rauscht und eine zweite
Steigt auf und fällt.
Ein Jäger hebt seine Beute
Und der Tag tritt in die Welt.

3. Der Tod ging nachts durch eine Stadt
 (Sung text)

Language: German (Deutsch)
Der Tod ging nachts durch eine Stadt.
Ein Fenster war noch rot im Dach,
Dort saß ob einem Verseblatt
Ein kranker Dichter spät noch wach.

Der Tod stieß leis das Fenster ein
Und blies die trübe Ampel aus.
Ein Hauch, ein Blick, ein Lächelschein,
Und dunkel wurde Stadt und Haus.

  • by Hermann Hesse (1877 - 1962), "Der Tod ging nachts --", written 1898

4. August
 (Sung text)

Language: German (Deutsch)
Das war des Sommers schönster Tag,
Nun klingt er vor dem stillen Haus
In Duft und süßem Vogelschlag
Unwiederbringlich leise aus.

In dieser Stunde goldnen Born
Gießt schwelgerisch in roter Pracht
Der Sommer aus sein volles Horn
Und feiert seine letzte Nacht.

5. Gang bei Nacht
 (Sung text)

Language: German (Deutsch)
Busch und Wiese, Feld und Baum
Stehen in begnügtem Schweigen,
Jeder ganz sich selbst zu eigen,
Jeder tief in seinem Traum.

Wolke schwebt und lichter Stern,
Wie zu hoher Wacht berufen,
Und der Berg mit steilen Stufen
Türmt sich dunkel, hoch und fern.

Alles weilt und hat Bestand,
Ich allein mit meinen Schmerzen
Treibe fern von Gottes Herzen
Weiter ohne Sinn durchs Land.

  • by Hermann Hesse (1877 - 1962), "Gang bei Nacht", written 1933
