by William Wordsworth (1770 - 1850)
Translation by Jaroslav Vrchlický (1853 - 1912)

I wandered lonely as a cloud
Language: English
Our translations:  CHI GER GER HUN
I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

The waves beside them danced; but they
Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:
A poet could not but be gay,
In such a jocund company:
I gazed -- and gazed -- but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:

For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.

Narcisky
Language: Czech (Čeština)  after the English
Jak oblak, cestou já jsem šel,
jež táhne přes vrchy i dol,
tu množství narcisků jsem zřel,
vše zaplavily zlatem kol,
pod stromy, v keřích, na vlnách
kol tančily, jak vítr táh.

Jak nedohledných hvězdic řad
plá z mléčné dráhy dolů k nám,
bez konce plály odevšad
břeh věnčen jimi tu i tam,
jich byly sta, zde v směsici
se skláněly, jak tančící.

Tak vlny zahanbil jich třpyt!
Jak tančily zde o závod,
tu musil básník vesel být
rej plesný vida v tůni vod,
já zřel a zřel a nemyslel,
ký zisk jsem z toho zření měl!

Teď na loži když ležím svém,
půl v snění a půl v dřímotě,
jich hru před duše zrcadlem
zřim v blaživé jich samotě,
ples v srdce mé se přimísí
a to v ráz tančí s narcissy!
