Denn du hast, Liebe, mit dem Blick mir fast
die Brust durchbohrt. Und mein von Glut und Speise
berstendes Herz ist jetzt auf keine Weise
zu retten, wenn du selbst kein Mittel hast.
 
O wunderliches Schicksal über mir.
Als wär ich von dem Skorpion gestochen
und hoffte Heilung durch dasselbe Tier.
 
Ich wünschte frei zu sein von meinen Nöten
und doch mich ihrem Grund zu unterjochen.
