Die Nacht
Language: German (Deutsch)
Available translation(s): CAT DUT ENG ENG FRE ITA RUS
Aus dem Walde tritt die Nacht,
Aus den Bäumen schleicht sie leise,
[Schaut]1 sich um [im weiten]2 Kreise,
    Nun gib Acht!

Alle Lichter dieser Welt,
Alle Blumen, alle Farben
Löscht sie aus und stiehlt die Garben
    Weg vom Feld.

Alles nimmt sie, was nur hold,
Nimmt das Silber weg des [Stromes,]3
Nimmt vom Kupferdach des [Domes]4
    Weg das Gold.

Ausgeplündert steht der Strauch:
Rücke näher, Seel' an Seele,
O die Nacht, mir bangt, sie stehle
    Dich mir auch.

La nuit
Language: French (Français)  after the German (Deutsch)
La nuit descend de la forêt,
Légère, elle se glisse hors des arbres,
Regarde l'étendue autour d'elle,
Maintenant, prends garde.

Toutes les lumières de ce monde
Toutes les fleurs, toutes les couleurs
Par elle sont éteintes et les gerbes dérobées
Dans les champs.

Elle prend tout, uniquement ce qui est beau,
Du fleuve elle prend l'argent
Du toit de cuivre de la cathédrale elle prend
L'or.

Le buisson est là, dépouillé,
Viens plus près, cœur contre cœur;
Ô j'ai peur que la nuit t'arrache aussi
À moi.
