Der Knabe an die Mutter
Language: German (Deutsch)  after the Serbian (Српски)
Available translation(s): CAT ENG FRE

The young lad to his mother
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
Marry me off while I'm still young, oh [my]1 mother!
Before my beard completely encompasses my face,
And my chin and moustache are engulfed.
Otherwise the maidens may say of me
When someday they introduce me to their mothers:
"Mother, see the bear I found in the [bushes!"
Or: "See]2 the rabbit I found in the greenery!"
