Ich fürcht' nit Gespenster
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  ENG FRE
Ich fürcht nit Gespenster,
Keine Hexen und Feen,
Und lieb's, in ihre tiefen
Glühaugen zu sehn.

Im Wald in dem grünen
Unheimlichen See,
Da wohnet ein Nachtweib,
Das ist weiß wie der Schnee.

Es haßt meiner Schönheit
Unschuldige Zier;
Wenn ich spät noch vorbeigeh,
So zankt es mit mir.

Jüngst, als ich im Mondschein
Am Waldwasser stand,
Fuhr sie auf ohne Schleier,
Ohne alles Gewand.

Es schwammen ihre Glieder
In der taghellen Nacht;
Der Himmel war trunken
Von der höllischen Pracht.

Aber ich hab entblößt
Meine lebendige Brust;
Da hat sie mit Schande
Versinken gemußt!

Je ne crains pas les fantômes
Language: French (Français)  after the German (Deutsch)
Je ne crains pas les fantômes,
Ni les sorcières ni les fées,
Et j'aime à voir au fond
De leurs yeux de braise.

Dans la forêt, dans le lac
Vert et sulfureux,
Habite une femme de la nuit
Qui est blanche comme neige.

Elle hait de ma beauté
Les innocents attraits ;
Lorsque je passe, tard dans la nuit,
Elle se querelle avec moi.

Alors que récemment, au clair de lune
Je me tenais au bord du lac de la forêt,
Elle s'avança sans voiles,
Sans aucune robe.

Ses membres flottaient
Dans la nuit claire comme le jour ;
Le ciel était enivré
De sa splendeur infernale.

Mais moi, je découvris
Ma poitrine bien vivante ;
Sur quoi, de honte
Elle dut disparaître sous les eaux !
