Le petit oiseau du bon Dieu A vu le laboureur las sous la peine et l’âge ; Il s’envole vers le ciel bleu Pour raconter là-haut ce qu’il vit au village. Il va dire au Tsar du ciel clair Que le pauvre est bien triste et que sa vigueur ploie, Que, si doux aux oiseaux de l’air, Jamais le gai printemps ne lui donne de joie. Il chanterait l’avril vainqueur ! Mais le lourd désespoir le courbe vers la terre, Le mal met du plomb sur son cœur Et sa chanson ne peut que pleurer ou se taire. L’oiseau prira le Tsar des rois De donner au moujik qui chancelle ou qui tombe La force de porter sa croix Et d’arriver enfin, sans murmure, à la tombe…
