Μᾶς εἶδ’ ἡ νύκτα κ’ ἡ αὐγὴ, 
τ’ ἄστρον καὶ τὸ φεγγάρι·

Καὶ τ’ ἄστρον ἐχαμήλωσε, 
τῆς θάλασσας τὸ εἶπε·

Θάλασσα τό εἰπε τοῦ κουπιοῦ, 
καὶ τὸ κουπὶ τοῦ ναύτη,

Κ’ ὁ ναύτης τὸ τραγούδησε 
’σ τῆς λυγηρῆς τὴν πόρτα.
