Ach, die Augen sind es wieder
Language: German (Deutsch)
Available translation(s): DUT FRE FRE
Ach, die Augen sind es wieder,
Die mich einst so [lieblich]1 grüßten,
Und es sind die Lippen wieder,
Die [das Leben mir]2 versüßten.

Auch die Stimme ist es wieder,
Die ich einst so gern gehöret!
Nur ich selber bin's nicht wieder,
Bin verändert heimgekehret.

Von den weißen, schönen Armen
Fest und liebevoll umschlossen,
Lieg ich jetzt an ihrem Herzen,
Dumpfen Sinnes und verdroßen.

F. Mendelssohn-Hensel sets stanzas 1-2

Ah ! ce sont encore ces yeux
Language: French (Français)  after the German (Deutsch)
Ah ! ce sont encore ces yeux
Qui m'accueillirent une fois avec amitié.
Et ce sont ces lèvres
Qui une fois me rendirent la vie si douce.

C'est encore cette voix
Qu'une fois j'écoutais si joyeusement.
Mais je ne suis plus le même,
Je suis revenu à la maison bien changé.
