Wiegenlied
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  ENG
Vöglein fliegt dem Nestchen zu,
Hat sich müd' geflogen;
Schifflein sucht im Hafen Ruh'
Vor den wankenden Wogen.

Sonne [denkt nun auch, sie]1 hätt'
Lang genug geschienen,
Legt sich in ihr Himmelbett
Mit den roten Gardinen.

Vöglein [sitzt]2 im warmen Nest,
Schifflein liegt im Hafen,
Sonne schläft schon tief und fest,
Auch mein Kind will schlafen.

Cradle song
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
The little bird flies towards its nest,
It has grown tired from flying;
In the harbour the ship seeks rest
From the surging waves.

The sun, too, now thinks it has
Shone long enough.
It lies down in its canopy bed
With the red curtains.

The bird is [sitting]1 in its warm nest,
The ship is lying in the harbour,
The sun is already deeply asleep,
My child wants to sleep as well.
