Temidden van het rumoerige bal, zag ik jou, Toevallig ving ik je blik op en zag dat je ogen droevig stonden alsof een ongekend geheim je gezicht tekende. Ook hoorde ik je stem die zo wonderlijk klonk als het geluid van een fluit in de verte, als een speelse golf van de oceaan. Ik was getroffen door je in gepeins verzonken verschijning, je slanke taille en je lach, die zowel melancholiek als honingzoet klonk en welke trouwens nog steeds weerklinkt in mijn hart. Soms, laat in de avond als ik moe ben en ga liggen om uit te rusten, zie ik weer je bedroefde ogen en hoor ik je opgewekte gepraat. En uiteindelijk val ik dan heel bedroefd in slaap, om alleen maar vreemde dromen te dromen. Of ik van je houd weet ik niet, Maar het lijkt er wel op...
