Der [laute]1 Tag ist fortgezogen
Es kommt die stille Nacht herauf
Und an dem weiten Himmelsbogen
Da gehen tausend Sterne auf
Und wo sich Erd' und Himmel einen
In einem lichten [Nebelband]2

Mit mildem Glanz ins dunkle Land.

Da geht durch alle Welt ein Grüßen
Und schwebet [hin]4 von Land zu Land
Das ist ein leises Liebesküssen
Das Herz dem Herzen [zugesandt]5
Das im Gebete aufwärts steiget
Wie gute Engel, leicht beschwingt
Das sich zum fernen Liebsten neiget
Und süße Schlummerlieder singt.

Und wie es durch die Lande dringet
Da möchte Alles Bote sein
Ein Vogel es dem andern singet
Und alle Bäume rauschen d'rein
Und durch den Himmel geht ein [Winken]6
Und auf der Erde nah und fern
Die Ströme heben an zu blinken
Und Stern verkündet es dem Stern.

O Nacht, wo solche Geister wallen

夏夜

千颗星儿闪亮其上

皎洁的月儿开始闪亮

从此方传播到彼方 
这是一温柔的爱之吻 
所有的人心心相向
这些起于祈祷的人们 
他们像天使,多欢喜 
倾向于那遥远的甜心 
唱着摇篮曲多甜蜜。 

如何传播到不同地方
谁都想把使者充当
鸟儿向它的同伴歌唱
树木们都沙沙作响

或近或远大地之上
