et toi en soleil jouant au-dessus des vagues.

Wprawdzie wschodni wiatr na ucho od niej coś mi zlecić chciał
lecz szepcac jąkał się i mylił tak,
żem nie mogł pojąć nic!

On musiał się ten nędzarz
dać upoić i olśnić tak
kochanki mej pięknością,

Le vent d'est essayait de confier à mon oreille quelque chose d'elle
mais en chuchotant il bégayait et il se trompait tellement

Cóż oznacza mej Sulejmy wzrok figlarny?
Ach! Bo stary Hafiz jest kochanym dzisiaj,
jak i dawniej!

O Hafizie, tyś już stary, bliski grobu.
Ach, Hafiza serce młode jest tak dzisiaj, 
jak i dawniej.

Choćbym słyszał dzwon mogilny już z daleka,
stroję dźwięczną lutnię, całować chcę, tak dzisiaj,
jak i dawniej.

Que veut dire ce battement bruyant de mon cœur ?
Ah ! le vieux cœur de Hafez aime aujourd'hui,
comme autrefois !

Que veut dire le regard espiègle de ma Souleima ?
Ah ! le vieux Hafez est aimé aujourd'hui,
comme autrefois !

O Hafez, tu es vieux, proche du tombeau,
Ah ! le cœur de Hafez est tellement jeune aujourd'hui,
comme autrefois !

Même si j'entends le glas de la tombe déjà au loin,
je jouerais de mon luth sonore, j'embrasserais bien aujourd'hui,

Pod murami Szirazu
leży piękna Mozella,
w śnie tam Hafiz spoczywa.
I nigdzie w Persji całej
pieśni słowiczych chóry
tak słodko nie brzmiąjak tam.
I nigdzie w Persji całej
wiosennych wdzięków czar
tak bujnie nie rozkwita.
O dziwo! I kwiaty pachną
tak na grobie Hafiza,
iż zdasię ogrodem róż.
Ich woń świąteczna, radosna
tak zmysły odurza dziwnie!
Nie kwiatów jest to zapach,
lecz wina czar upojny.
