Italian (Italiano) translation of Der Abschied

by Gustav Mahler (1860 - 1911), "Der Abschied", 1908, from Das Lied von der Erde, no. 6

Note: this is a translation of one multi-text setting.

Return to the original list

Die Sonne scheidet hinter dem Gebirge.
In allen Tälern steigt der Abend nieder
Mit seinen Schatten, die voll Kühlung sind.
O sieh!

Alle Sehnsucht will nun träumen.
Die müden Menschen gehn heimwärts,
Um im Schlaf vergeßnes Glück
Und Jugend neu zu lernen!
Die Vögel hocken still in ihren Zweigen.
Die Welt schläft ein!

Es wehet kühl im Schatten meiner Fichten.
Ich stehe hier und harre meines Freundes;

Aufs neu! Allüberall und ewig
Blauen licht die Fernen!
Ewig... ewig...

Author(s): [More than can fit here]
Discende il sole dietro la montagna.
Cala la sera sopra ogni vallata
Con le sue ombre piene di frescura.
Guarda!

Io resto qui e aspetto il mio amico;
Lo aspetto per l'ultimo saluto.
Come vorrei, amico, godere al tuo fianco
Della bellezza di questa sera!
Dove indugi? Mi lasci a lungo in solitudine!
Erro qua e là con il mio liuto
Su sentieri colmi di tenera erba.
O bellezza! O mondo ebbro di amore eterno, di eterna vita!

Dove vado? Io vado e m'incammino verso i monti.

Azzurro splende l'orizzonte!
Per sempre... per sempre ...
