Ein alter Faun aus gebranntem Ton
steht grinsend in des Rasens Mitte.
Er kündet ohne Zweifel,
dass Schlimmes diesen heitren Stunden folgt,

die mich und dich
- bedrückte Pilger - hingeführt
zu dieser Stunde, die wirbelnd nun
beim Schlag der Trommeln flieht.
