A les valls de nou es fa fosc, a penes es veu la vermellor del capvespre, però els que amb nosaltres vetllaven, són morts de fa temps. Què cantarem ara, aquí en la solitud, quan tots ens han deixat, els que gaudien de les nostres cançons? Però tanmateix cantarem! El món és tan silenciós; qui sap, les cançons potser arribaran fins a la volta de les estrelles. Qui sap, els que són morts, potser m’escoltaran allà dalt i suaument obriran les portes per acollir-nos amb ells.
