Ich armes Käuzlein kleine
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  CAT DUT ENG FRE
Ich armes Käuzlein kleine,
Wo soll ich fliegen aus,
Bei Nacht so gar alleine,
Bringt mir so manchen Graus
Das macht der Eulen Ungestalt
Ihr Trauern mannigfalt.

Ich wills Gefieder schwingen,
Gen Holz in grünen Wald,
Die Vögel hören singen,
In mancherlei Gestalt
Vor allen lieb' ich Nachtigall,
Vor allen liebt' mich Nachtigall.

Die Kinder unten glauben,
Ich deute Böses an,
Sie wollen mich vertreiben
Das ich nicht schreien kann
Wenn ich was deute tut's mir leid,
Und was ich schrei' ist keine Freud'.

Mein Ast ist mir entwichen,
Darauf ich ruhen sollt',
Sein Blättlein all' verblichen,
Frau Nachtigall geholt
Das schafft der Eulen falsche Tück,
Die störet all mein Glück.

Moi, pauvre petite hulotte
Language: French (Français)  after the German (Deutsch)
Moi, pauvre petite hulotte,
Ne sais vers où m'envoler,
Si seule dans la nuit,
Cela me fait tant horreur.
Cela rend les chouettes si gauches
Et multiplie leur chagrin.

Je veux balancer mes plumes
Parmi les bois de la verte forêt,
Écouter chanter les oiseaux
De toutes sortes.
De tous je préfère le rossignol
De toutes le rossignol me préférait.

En bas, les enfants croient
Que j'annonce le malheur,
Ils veulent me chasser
Pour que je ne puisse crier.
Si je présage ainsi cela m'attriste
Et mon cri n'est pas joyeux.

Ma branche a disparu
Sur laquelle je devais reposer,
Ses feuilles sont fanées,
On est allé chercher Dame rossignol.
C'est ce que fait la fausse perfidie des chouettes,
Qui détruit tout mon bonheur.
