Gebt meinen Augen wieder, Quellen, Flüsse,
die starken Wellen, die nicht euer eigen
und die euch wachsen machen, höher steigen,
als sonst der Brauch ist euerer Ergüsse.

Und du, gedrängte Luft, die Himmelslichte
mir dämpft, als ob sie ganz voll Seufzer wäre,
gib sie ans müde Herz zurück und kläre
dein Finstres meinem schärferen Gesichte.

Die Erde selbst erstatte meinen Sohlen
die Schritte wieder, ihrem Gras zuliebe,
das Echo, meiner müde, mir den Klang;

laß meinen Blick aus deinem Aug mich holen,
daß ich zu andrem Lieben fähig bliebe
