O wär ich doch entrückt an ihn, gepreßt an seine Brust, für den ich mich verzehre. Und daß der Neid mir länger nicht mehr wehre, mit ihm zu sein für meiner Tage Rest. Daß er mich nähme und mir sagte: Liebe, wir wollen, eins im anderen genug, uns so versichern, daß uns nichts verschiebe: nicht Sturm, nicht Strömung oder Vogelflug. Wenn dann, entrüstet, weil ich ihn umfasse, wie sich um einen Stamm der Efeu schweißt, der Tod verlangte, daß ich von ihm lasse: Er küßte mich, es mündete mein Geist auf seine Lippen; und der Tod wär sicher noch süßer als das Dasein, seliglicher.
