Alles schwankt in's Ungewisse,
Nebel schleichen in die Höh';
Schwarzvertiefte Finsternisse
Widerspiegelnd ruht der See.

Ahn' ich Mondenglanz und Gluth,
Schlanker Weiden Haargezweige
Scherzen auf der nächsten Fluth.
Durch bewegter Schatten Spiele
Zittert Luna's Zauberschein,
Und durch's Auge [schleicht]3 die Kühle
Sänftigend in's Herz hinein.

El atardecer se deja caer desde lo alto,
Ya todo lo cercano está lejos
pero primero se eleva
la luz sagrada del lucero de la tarde. 
Todo se tambalea de inseguridad
se deslizan nieblas en las alturas,
oscuridades de profunda negrura,
el espejo del lago se calma.

Solo en los lugares al este
intuyo el brillo y ardor de la luna.
Sauces delgados con ramas como cabellos
bromean en la cercana corriente. 
En torno al juego de sus sombras
tiembla la magia de la luna 
y a través de sus ojos se desliza el frío
tiernamente en el corazón.
