by Delphine de Girardin (1804 - 1855)
Translation by Aleksei Nikolayevich Apukhtin (1841 - 1893)

Ma sœur, je me sentais rougir en l‘écoutant ;
        Il m'aimait tant !

Je me parais pour lui, car je savais lui plaire ;
Pour lui, j'ai mis ces fleurs et ce voile flottant ;

Malheureux! il a dû me maudire en partant ;

On tak menja ljubil
Language: Russian (Русский)  after the French (Français)
Our translations:  ENG FRE
Net, ne ljubila ja! no strannaja zabota
Tesnila grud' moju, kogda on prichodil;
To vsja krasnela ja, bojalasja čego to,
On tak menja ljubil, on tak menja ljubil!

Čtob nravit'sja emu togda, cvety i te narjady
JA beregla, čto on po serdcu nachodil;
S nim govorila ja, ego lovila vzgljady, -
On tak menja ljubil, on tak menja ljubil!

No raz on mne skazal: ,,V tu rošču,
v čas za kata pridëš' li?`` -- ,,Da, pridu!``
No ne chvatilo sil. JA v rošču ne pošla,
on ždal menja naprasno!

Togda uechal on, serdjas' na neudaču;
Nesčastnyj, kak menja prokljast' on dolžen byl!
On tak menja ljubil, on tak menja ljubil!
