Was hör ich beim Erwachen? Horch!
Ein Vogel singt im Baum.
Ich frag ihn, ob schon Frühling sei,
Mir ist als wie im Traum.

Der Vogel zwitschert: "Ja! Der Lenz

Pourquoi se tourmenter?
Moi, sans souci, je bois jusqu'a plus soif
Du matin jusqu'au soir.

Et lorsqu'enfin je n'en puis plus,
que j'en ai tout mon soûl,
devant ma porte je m'étends,
à l'aise, et, je m'endors!

J'entend sitôt que je m'éveille
un bel oiseau chanter.
Je lui dis: "le printemps vient-il?
Je crois rêver encore."

Et il répond:  "Oui, le printemps
arrive ce matin."
Je sens mon coeur s'emplir d'émoi,
l'oiseau babille et rit.

Puis je remplis ma coupe encore,
et je bois un bon coup.
Je chante et vois la lune amie
briller au firmament.

Et quand je ne puis plus chanter,
Je dors encore un peu,
Ah! que m'importe le printemps?
Le vin me charme mieux!
