Was wir uns füllen, das trinken wir aus, Seßhaft und brüderlich halten wir Haus So je länger je lieber. Je länger je lieber schling' ich den Arm Lachend um's herzige Liebchen, Je länger je lieber drück' ich es warm Kosend im traulichen Stübchen. Einer im Anderen selig versenkt Rasten wir raunend, was Jeder sich denkt, Und je länger je lieber. Je länger je lieber schweif' ich herum, Überall fröhlich zu grasen, Je länger je lieber, stets willekumm, Treib' ich mein Singen und Blasen. That which we fill for ourselves, that we drink up, We keep household in an established and brotherly manner, Thus the longer, the better. I put my arm laughingly around My sweet darling, the longer, the better, I press her warmly, the longer, the better, Cuddling in the cozy little room. Blissfully engrossed in one another, We rest, whispering what each of us is thinking, And the longer, the better. I wander about, the longer, the better, In order to graze merrily everywhere, Always welcome, the longer, the better, I pursue my singing and trumpeting.
