Gefügt aus Jade, steigt die Treppe auf, Mit Tau benetzt, darin der Vollmond schimmert, -- Auf allen Stufen liegt der holde Glanz. Die Kaiserin in schleppendem Gewande Schreitet die Stufen aufwärts, und der Tau Näßt funkelnd des Gewandes edeln Saum. Sie schreitet bis zum Pavillon, in dem Das Mondlicht webt. Geblendet bleibt sie auf Der Schwelle stehen, Ihre Hand zieht sacht Den Perlenvorhang nieder, -- und es sinken Die lieblichen Kristalle, rieselnd wie Ein Wasserfall, durch den die Sonne scheint... Da lauscht die Kaiserin dem Rieseln nach Und blickt voll Schwermut lange in den Mond, Den herbstlichen, der durch die Perlen flimmert. Und blickt voll Schwermut lange in den Mond...
