Wenn durch die Piazetta
Language: German (Deutsch)  after the English
Our translations:  CAT DUT ENG ENG FRE ITA ITA LIT
Wenn durch die Piazetta
Die Abendluft weht,
[Dann]1 weißt du, Ninetta,
Wer wartend [hier]2 steht.
Du weißt, wer trotz Schleier
Und Maske dich kennt,
[Wie Amor die Venus
Am Nachtfirmament.]3

Ein Schifferkleid trag' ich
Zur selbigen Zeit,
Und zitternd dir sag' ich:
„Das Boot [liegt]4 bereit!
[O, komm’! jetzt, wo Lune’n]5
Noch Wolken umziehn,
Laß durch die Lagunen,
[Mein Leben,]6 uns fliehn!“

Quando sulla piazzetta
Language: Italian (Italiano)  after the German (Deutsch)
Quando sulla piazzetta
spira la brezza della sera,
allora tu sai, Ninetta,
chi sta ad aspettarti.
Tu sai chi, attraverso velo
e maschera ti conosce,
tu sai come il desiderio
arde nel mio cuore.

Porto un abito da marinaio,
in questo stesso momento,
e trepidando ti dico:
la barca è pronta!
O vieni ora,
che le nubi circondano
ancora la luna,
fuggiamo, amore mio, sulla laguna!
