Ainsi nous apparaît le passé; ainsi le reflet des jours qui ne sont plus brille-t-il encore, mais sans produire aucune chaleur; nocturne lumière que la douleur qui veille s'empresse de contempler ! lumière distincte, mais lointaine; -- claire, mais hélas ! bien froide !
