Ein schmachtendes heißes Begehren, ein süßes müdes Gewähren bebt hin im schauernden Wald; leis zittern des Windes Geigen, wie wenn in den grauen Zweigen ein schüchternes Singen verhallt. Wie irrendes Stimmenkräuseln so lallt es und surrt es mit Säuseln und gleicht dem zarten Lied, das die wehenden Gräser singen, wie wenn dem Bache das Klingen der schlürfenden Kiesel entflieht. Die Seele, die seufzend schwebte Und in müden Klagen bebte, muß wohl die unsere sein; die meine, sag! und die deine, die so mit leisem Geweine wehklagt in den Abend hinein . . .
