Wohin mit der Freud'?
Language: German (Deutsch)
Available translation(s): CAT ENG ENG FRE ITA
[Ach]1 du klar blauer Himmel
Und wie schön bist du heut'!
Möcht' an's Herz [gleich dich]2 drücken
[Vor]3 Jubel und Freud'.
Aber's geht doch nicht an,
Denn du bist mir zu weit,
Und mit all' meiner Freud'
Was fang' ich doch an?

Ach du [lichte grüne]4 Welt,
Und wie strahlst du [voll]5 Lust!
Und ich [möcht' mich gleich werfen]6
[Dir vor]7 Lieb' an die Brust;
Aber's geht doch nicht an,
Und das ist ja mein Leid,
Und mit all' meiner Freud',
Was fang' ich doch an?

Und da sah ich mein Lieb
[Am Kastanienbaum stehn]8,
War so klar wie der Himmel,
Wie die Erde so schön!
Und wir küßten uns beid'
Und wir sangen [vor]9 Lust,
Und da hab' ich gewußt:
Wohin mit der Freud'!

Della gioia, che farne?
Language: Italian (Italiano)  after the German (Deutsch)
Tu cielo azzurro e chiaro,
quanto sei bello oggi!
Potessi stringerti al cuore
colmo di gioia festosa.
Ma ciò non mi è possibile,
tu sei troppo lontano,
e di tutta questa gioia
allora che me ne faccio?

Tu mondo verdeggiante,
come di gioia risplendi!
Potessi io gettarmi pure su te,
colmo d'amore;
Ma ciò non mi è possibile
e molto mi addolora,
di tutta questa gioia,
che me ne faccio allora?

Vidi allora il mio amore,
presso l'ippocastano,
come il cielo era chiaro
e come la terra bello,
e ci scambiammo un bacio,
e cantammo felici.
E io compresi infine
della gioia che farmene.
