Non conosci il bel suol Che di porpora ha il ciel? Il bel suolo u' de'rai son più tersi i colori? Ove l'aura è più dolce, più lieve l'augel? Ove in ogni stagione ha l'ape sempre fiori? Ove sotto il fulgor d'un cielo ognor seren par che l'april s'eterni all'erbetta in sen? Ohimé! Potess'io tornare a quelle amate sponde onde fui tolta un dì! Là sol vorrei restare, amare e morir! Non conosci l'ostel che là s'erge sul pian? Le sale adorne d'or, le statue alle pareti, che fanno scolta a notte, e mi tendon le man? Il recinto u' si danza all'ombra degli abeti? Ed il lago infinito, alle cui linfe in sen mille schifi leggieri sen vanno qual balen? Ohimé! Potess'io ritornare a quelle sponde amene, onde fui tolta un dì! Là sol vorrei restare, Amare e morir!
