Droevig klinkt het klokje neder, akelig het begrafeniskoor, verstomd zijn de vrolijke liedjes, en de jongen luistert omhoog. Daarboven draagt men hen ten grave, die vrolijk waren in het dal. Herdersjongen, herdersjongen, ook voor jou zingt men daar eenmaal.
