Mich liebte eine blonde Maid;
Es war am grünen Waldesraum,

Die Knospe sprang, der Waldbach schwoll,
Fern aus dem Dorfe scholl Geläut -- 
Wir waren ganzer Wonne voll,
Versunken ganz in Seligkeit.

Und schöner noch als einst [im]¹ Traum
