Zweiter Liederkreis - 15 Gedichte von Hermann Hesse

Song Cycle by Justus Hermann Wetzel (1879 - 1973)

1. An die Schönheit
 (Sung text)

Language: German (Deutsch)
Gib uns deine milde Hand!
Von der Mutter Hand gerissen
Irren wir in Finsternissen
Kinder durch ein fremdes Land.

Manchmal wenn es dunkel war,
Schenkte eine Heimatweise
Deiner Stimme wunderbar
Licht und Trost der bangen Reise.

Wandrer ohne Ziel und Pfad
Irren wir in dunklen Weiten;
Wolle du uns gnädig leiten,
Bis der große Morgen naht!

2. Alpenpaß
 (Sung text)

Language: German (Deutsch)
Durch viele Täler wandernd kam ich her,
Nach keinem Ziele hin steht mein Begehr.

Hinschauend seh ich an der Ferne Rand
Italien, meiner Jugendjahre Land,

Indes vom Norden mir herüberschaut
Das kühlere Land, wo ich mein Haus gebaut.

Ich schaue still mit wunderlichem Schmerz
Zu meinem Jugendgarten südenwärts

Und winke grüßend mit geschwungenem Hut
Dem Norden zu, wo nun mein Wandern ruht.

Und brennend geht es durch die Seele mir:
Ach, meine Heimat ist nicht dort, nicht hier!

3. Beim Schlafengehen
 (Sung text)

Language: German (Deutsch)
Nun der Tag mich müd gemacht,
Soll mein sehnliches Verlangen
Freundlich die gestirnte Nacht
Wie ein müdes Kind empfangen.

Hände, laßt von allem Tun,
Stirn vergiß du alles Denken,
Alle meine Sinne nun
Wollen sich in Schlummer senken.

Und die Seele unbewacht
Will in freien Flügen schweben,
Um im Zauberkreis der Nacht
Tief und tausendfach zu leben.

4. Assistono diversi santi
 (Sung text)

Language: German (Deutsch)
Nichts andres haben wir zu tun,
Als daß wir vor dem Heilandkind
Auf frommen Knieen betend ruhn.
Die wir der Jungfrau Diener sind.

Sieh, unser Dienst ist leicht und zart.
Wir atmen still im grünen Land
Der schönen Mutter Gegenwart.
Und selig werden wir genannt.

Und selig wirst auch du, o Christ,
Der du voll dunkler Sehnsucht bist,
Wenn du der Schönsten dich ergibst
Und keine andre liebst.

5. Frühlingstag
 (Sung text)

Language: German (Deutsch)
Wind im Gesträuch und Vogelpfiff
Und hoch im höchsten süßen Blau
Ein stilles, stolzes Wolkenschiff . . .

Ich träume von einer blonden Frau,
Ich träume von meiner Jugendzeit,
Der hohe Himmel blau und weit
Ist meiner Sehnsucht Wiege,
Darin ich stillgesinnt
Und selig warm
Mit leisem Summen liege
So wie in seiner Mutter Arm
Ein Kind.

6. Wie sind die Tage schwer!
 (Sung text)

Language: German (Deutsch)
Wie sind die Tage schwer!
An keinem Feuer kann ich erwarmen,
Keine Sonne lacht mir mehr,
Ist alles leer,
Ist alles kalt und ohne Erbarmen,
Und auch die lieben klaren
Sterne schauen mich trostlos an,
Seit ich im Herzen erfahren,
Daß Liebe sterben kann.

7. Wie der stöhnende Wind durch die Nacht
 (Sung text)

Language: German (Deutsch)
Wie der stöhnende Wind durch die Nacht
Stürmt mein Verlangen nach dir,
Jede Sehnsucht ist aufgewacht --
O du, die mich krank gemacht,
Was weißt du von mir!
Leise lösch ich mein spätes Licht,
Fiebernde Stunden zu wachen,
Und die Nacht hat dein Angesicht,
Und der Wind, der von Liebe spricht,
Hat dein unvergeßliches Lachen!

8. Weg zur Geliebten
 (Sung text)

Language: German (Deutsch)
Der Tag tut frische Augen auf,
Tautrunken glänzt die Welt
Dem jungen Licht entgegen,
Das golden sie umfangen hält.

Im Walde bin ich unterwegs
Und halte fleißig Schritt
Mit dem geschwinden Morgen,
Der nimmt mich als ein Bruder mit.

Den Mittag seh ich heiß und schwer
Im gelben Kornfeld stehn,
Er sieht mich ohne Weile
Vorüber und landeinwärts gehn.

Und wenn der stille Abend kommt,
Will ich am Ziele sein,
Will wie der Tag verglühen,
Geliebteste, am Herzen dein.

9. Absterben
 (Sung text)

Language: German (Deutsch)
Wenn ich Kinder spielen sehe
Und ihr Spiel nicht mehr verstehe
Und ihr Lachen fremd und töricht klingt,
Ach das ist vom bösen Feinde,
Den ich ewig ferne meinte,
Eine Mahnung, die nicht mehr verklingt.

Wenn ich Liebesleute sehe
Und zufrieden weiter gehe
Ohne Sehnsucht nach dem Paradies,
Ach das ist ein still Verzichten
Auf des Herzens tiefstes Dichten,
Das der Jugend Ewigkeit verhieß.

Wenn ich böse Reden höre
Und mich nicht mehr heiß empöre
Und gelassen tu, als hört ich's nicht,
O dann zuckt im Herzen,
Still und ohne Schmerzen,
Und erlischt das heilige Licht.

10. Gute Stunde
 (Sung text)

Language: German (Deutsch)
Erdbeeren glühn im Garten,
Ihr Duft ist süß und voll,
Mir ist, ich müsse warten,
Daß durch den grünen Garten
Bald meine Mutter kommen soll.
Mir ist, ich bin ein Knabe,
Und alles war geträumt,
Was ich vertan, versäumt,
Verspielt, verloren habe.
Noch liegt im Gartenfrieden
Die reiche Welt vor mir,
Ist alles mir beschieden,
Gehöret alles mir.
Benommen bleib ich stehen
Und wage keinen Schritt,
Daß nicht die Düfte verwehen
Und meine gute Stunde mit.

11. Meinem Bruder
 (Sung text)

Language: German (Deutsch)
Wenn wir jetzt die Heimat wieder sehen,
Gehen wir bezaubert durch die Stuben,
Bleiben lang im alten Garten stehen,
Wo wir einst gespielt als wilde Buben.

Und von jenen Herrlichkeiten allen,
Die wir draußen in der Welt erbeutet,
Will uns keine freun mehr und gefallen,
Wenn daheim die Kirchenglocke läutet.

Stille gehen wir die alten Wege
Durch das grüne Land der Kindertage,
Und sie werden uns im Herzen rege,
Fremd und groß wie eine schöne Sage.

Ach, und alles, was auf uns mag warten,
Wird den reinen Glanz doch nicht mehr haben
Wie vorzeiten, da wir noch als Knaben
Falter fingen, jeder Tag im Garten.

12. Die Kindheit
 (Sung text)

Language: German (Deutsch)
Du bist, mein fernes Tal,
Verzaubert und versunken.
Oft hast du mir in Not und Qual
Empor aus deinem Schattenland gewunken
Und deine Mädchenaugen aufgetan,
Daß ich entzückt in kurzem Wahn
Mich ganz zu dir zurück verlor.

O dunkles Tor,
O dunkle Todesstunde,
Komm du heran, daß ich gesunde
Und daß aus dieses Lebens Leere
Ich heim zu meinen Träumen kehre!

13. Die Flamme
 (Sung text)

Language: German (Deutsch)
Ob du tanzen gehst in Tand und Plunder,
Ob dein Herz sich wund in Sorgen müht,
Täglich neu erfährst du doch das Wunder,
Daß des Lebens Flamme in dir glüht.

Mancher läßt sie lodern und verprassen,
Trunken im verzückten Augenblick,
Andre geben sorglich und gelassen
Kind und Enkeln weiter ihr Geschick.

Doch verloren sind nur dessen Tage,
Den sein Weg durch dumpfe Dämmrung führt,
Der sich sättigt in des Tages Plage
Und des Lebens Flamme niemals spürt.

14. Fiesole
 (Sung text)

Language: German (Deutsch)
Über mir im Blauen reisen
Wolken, die mich heimwärts weisen.

Heimwärts in die namenlose Ferne,
In das Land des Friedens und der Sterne.

Heimat! Soll ich deine blauen
Schönen Ufer niemals schauen?

Dennoch ist mir, hier im Süden müßten
Nah sein und erreichbar deine Küsten.

15. Keine Rast
 (Sung text)

Language: German (Deutsch)
Seele, banger Vogel du,
Immer wieder mußt du fragen:
Wann nach so viel wilden Tagen
Kommt der Friede, kommt die Ruh?

O ich weiß: kaum haben wir
Unterm Boden stille Tage,
Wird vor neuer Sehnsucht dir
Jeder liebe Tag zur Plage.

Und du wirst, geborgen kaum,
Dich um neue Leiden mühen
Und voll Ungeduld den Raum
Als der jüngste Stern durchglühen.
