Feinden von allerwärts,
Trotzt meiner Waffen Erz;
Wider der Sehnsucht Schmerz
Schirmt mich kein Schild.
Doch wie das Herz auch klagt,
Ausharr' ich unverzagt:
Wer Gottes Fahrt gewagt,
Trägt still sein Kreuz.

Drüben am Belusbach
Ist schon die Vorhut wach;
Heut noch klingt Speerestrach
Durch Kisons Flur.

Cansat de la batalla i cremat del sol,
lluny, a la riba dels pagans,
a la Turíngia dels verds boscos,
penso en tu.
Llum d’estrelles, dolça i clara,
tu seràs la meva missatgera,
vés, saluda la meva pàtria,
lluny, més enllà del mar!

Enemics de totes bandes
desafien les meves armes de bronze,
però contra el dolor de la nostàlgia
no em protegeix cap escut.
Així quan el meu cor es plany,
ho suporto amb coratge:
qui s’arrisca a la via de Déu
ha de portar la seva creu amb silenci.

A l’altre costat, al ribatge de Belus,
l’avantguarda ja s’ha despertat;
avui el soroll de les llances ressona encara
a través dels camps de Kishon.
Escolteu, com canten els galls!
Avui l’esmorzar restarà intacte,
