Mondschein

Ein schöner Park ist euer Seele Bild,
belebt von reizend buntem Schäferfeste,
zu Tanz und Spiel die frohe Laute schrillt,
doch traurig blickt der Maskenzug der Gäste.

Sie singen in getragnem, sanften Moll von Liebesglück
und vor erhörtem Werben
doch ihre Weisen sind so schwermutsvoll,
daß sie im zarten Mondenschein ersterben,
der niedertrauert groß und silberhell,
den Vogel wiegt in schattendualen Bäumen
und schluchzen läßt mit funkelndem Gefäll’
die schlanken Strahlen die in Marmor schäumen.
