Seltsam, im Nebel zu wandern!
Language: German (Deutsch)
Available translation(s): ENG ENG FRE IRI ITA
Seltsam, im Nebel zu wandern!
Einsam ist jeder Busch und Stein,
Kein Baum sieht den andern,
Jeder ist allein.

Voll Freunden war mir die Welt,
Als noch mein Leben licht war;
Nun, da der Nebel fällt,
Ist keiner mehr sichtbar.

Wahrlich, keiner ist weise,
Der nicht das Dunkel kennt,
Das unentrinnbar und leise
Von allen ihn trennt.

Seltsam, im Nebel zu wandern!
Leben ist Einsamsein.
Kein Mensch kennt den andern,
Jeder ist allein.

H. Nobis sets stanzas 1-2

Sa cheobhrán
Language: Irish (Gaelic)  after the German (Deutsch)
Aisteach, sa cheobhrán – is ar fán!
Uaigneach atá gach cloch is sceach,
Tá na crainn go léir dall,
Leis féin ‘tá gach neach.

Na cairde a bhí ’gam tráth
Nuair ’bhí an solas i réim!
Ach, féach ar an gceobhrán!
Tá gach éinne i gcéin.

Go deimhin, níl ciall ag éinne
Nach gcloíonn leis an dubh
A scarann sinn lena shéimhe
Ó gach ’bhfuil ann inniu.

Aisteach, sa cheobhrán – is ar fán
Sceirdiúil atá an domhan.
Gach neach againne dall,
Níl ach uaigneas ann.
