zřel toužně po své udici

Jak sedí tam a naslouchá,
vln rozvíří se sbor,
a z hlubin vodních vyšplouchá
se vlahý ženský tvor.

A zpívala mu, pravila:
Proč láká vždy můj rod
lesť tvoje lidská, zavilá
v žár letní z chladných vod?
Och, kdybys znal, jak rybičkám
je blaze v hlubinách,
jak jsi, tak bys tam vstoupil sám
a zdráv bys byl a bláh!

Což sluníčko se nekoupá
i luna každý den?
Což obličej jich nestoupá
z vln mořských omlazen?
Což nevábí tě nebe zář
z vodního zrcadla?
Ci nevolá tě vlastní tvář,
jež do vln zapadla?

Zněl šumot vod a proud se dmul,
kol bosých nohou hrál.

bol touhy v srdci procitnul,
jak milá kyne v dál.
